2018 SRH Syrah
Sta. Rita Hills

The SRH Syrah blends fruit from two contiguous vineyard sites in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills. Lafond Vineyard and Hilltop Ranch both produce cool climate Syrahs noted for their prominent spice notes.

Winemaker Bruce McGuire blends a small portion (four percent) of Grenache to balance the wine, adding a bit of bright red fruit flavor.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
The 2018 Sta. Rita Hills Syrah is a deep maroon color with rich purple undertones. This wine is very aromatic featuring notes of lavender, smoked meats, leather and tobacco. Flavors of plum flow across the palate with ripe blackberries, and white pepper. Drink this full-bodied red alongside a lamb shank, grilled eggplant, or a good burger.

Winemaker Notes
All of the Syrah in this wine is over 20 years old. It is from our vineyard and is the first and oldest block of Syrah in the Sta. Rita Hills. In the early 90's, we started grafting Syrah on to Chenin Blanc that was planted in 1972. With age, depth is added to the cool climate white pepper spice and dark bramble fruit.
