In order to create one of our most aromatic Pinot Noirs, winemaker Bruce McGuire focuses on the 777 Clone from the Lafond Vineyard. The 777 clone benefits from the mixture of ancient marine based soil found throughout the Sta. Rita Hills, and the river deposited soil from the Santa Ynez River. The 777 clone highlights the complexity of the Lafond Vineyard site, first with its aroma and finally with its depth of flavor.

Lafond Vineyard is ideally situated to produce Pinot Noir exhibiting the unique and exotic flavor profile one finds in only a few regions of the world. Specific areas within our vineyard exhibit elevated concentration and complexity due to soil type and exposure to the elements.
