2018 SRH Chardonnay

2018 SRH Chardonnay
Sta. Rita Hills

The Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay is composed of six different Chardonnay clones grown on eight lots across the Lafond Vineyard. Each clone has distinct characteristics, and each lot consists of different types of soils.

Winemaker Bruce McGuire creates an incredible depth of flavor by layering the unique characteristics found in each clone. Finally, this wine undergoes barrel aging before it is ready to tell its complex story.

Tasting Notes
The 2018 Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay is a golden hay color with mild aromas of lemon zest, cantaloupe, and jasmine. Flavors of crisp pear, crushed gravel, and almond complete the palate. This bright Chardonnay pairs well with shrimp scampi, fish tacos, and beet salads.

Winemaker Notes
Hilltop Vineyard has some of the oldest Chardonnay vines in the Sta. Rita Hills. Planted in the late 70's, the wine shows great depth of flavor. Lafond has five different clones spread over two root stocks in sandy loam. Together they are a prototypical expression of Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay.
